At Sea Teach Mallorca we offer a range of courses that aim to get you competent, legal and safe. In order to successfully complete a course and qualify for your boat driving license you will need to learn and demonstrate a range of skills, both practical and  theory. Our instructors are RYA trained and qualified to run the course you choose.

Powerboating Courses

The RYA Power Boat Scheme is aimed at those who wish to drive Ribs and Speed boats up to 10 meter in size.   The courses are offered using either on our School 7.5 meter Rib or on your own boat if suitable. We can run a course with a maximum of 3 students. Min age 16 years.

RYA Powerboat Level 1 Course 

Assumed knowledge: None
Minimum duration: 1 day
Minimum age: 8 years (certificate will be endorsed until the age of 18)
A one day course providing a practical introduction to Powerboating and Safety.

As there is no min. experience required many students opt to go directly for the Powerboat Level 2 Course- See Below

RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course

  •  This 2 day course is the best starting place for those who wish to get out on to the water and enjoy the beautiful coasts and beaches of Mallorca.
    The course provides the skills and knowledge needed to safely and competently drive a powerboat sized up to 10 meters and is recognised in Mallorca as an accepted boat driving license for English Speaking Students of any Nationality. 

  •  The PB II is also the basis of the International Certificate of Competence which may be required when boating in other Countries coastal waters.
    Focus is given to low-speed close quarter boat handling, man overboard recovery and an introduction to driving at speed. 
  •  Syllabus: 
     Preparation of the Boat 
     Boat Handling - Securing to Mooring Buoy, Anchoring, leaving and coming along side, Man over-board and mooring and parking manoeuvres. 
     Safety Equipment, Safety Procedures and Distress Signals/Calling
     Basic Navigation- Use of charts and GPS
     Ropework and Fenders
     Weather Forecast analysis

RYA Theory Online Courses

The courses are easy to follow and you can submit your answers online as you go along. 
You will be supported by an experienced RYA Instructor. You have 6 months to complete the course 

ENS Course

A  basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, powerboaters, sea anglers, divers and boatmasters. Also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.

VHF Course

A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct terms and procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

PPR Course

A compulsory online course for new and revalidating RYA Commercial Endorsement holders. You can take this course anytime prior to your Commercial Endorsement application or renewal. Your PPR certificate will be valid either for your first Commercial Endorsement application or your next renewal.
